Juggling caregiving and my other commitments can be exhausting.
Caring for a loved one with a health problem, disability, or the frailty of aging can be both rewarding and challenging, satisfying and stressful. We understand that. Periodic “time off” gives both the caregiver and loved one a change of pace and chance to recharge. It also helps families attend to other work and family commitments.
Respite Support Options
We will work with you to arrange the support you need to ensure that your loved one is safe and well cared for. Our flexible options include hourly or overnight
in-home coverage – as well as out-of-home
respite stays.
Some of the families we support welcome having regularly scheduled respite support - while others call on us for a one time need. Some need coverage during a business trip or vacation, while others need help after a hospital or rehab stay. Depending on your situation, we can support your family on a short or long-term basis.
How Respite Support works
Respite Support provides temporary time off from caring for a person with special needs. We can provide you the respite you need – on a short or long-term basis, in or out of your home.
-
Initial Meeting: Together, we'll develop a plan and schedule for in-home or out-of home respite support. You let us know the services you're looking for and the extent to which you want to be involved in the hiring process.
-
Hiring: We often have staff members who are suitable to your request, or we may need to recruit specifically for you. We always strive to make a match that makes you feel very comfortable. Our aim is to have the same staff person provide respite support each time you need it.
-
Billing: Services are billed bi-weekly on an hourly or overnight basis. We will direct you to public sources of funding if appropriate. Many individuals and families pay for the support themselves or use a combination of benefits, public, and private funds.
